Study abroad programs


Tecnológico de Monterrey offers students the prospect of a comprehensive developmental experience in an international environment. This in turn, gives them the opportunity to develop their capacity to adapt in diverse contexts within social, economic, cultural and professional stages.

Through its academic cooperation agreements with 350 foreign universities in 30 countries, it can provide access to an ample wide variety of programs abroad. Undergraduate students may participate in different formats focused on student internationalization, such as:

International Exchange
Students may study one semester or an entire academic year abroad covering tuition expenses at Tecnológico de Monterrey. Program directors supply the options of courses available in foreign universities that are eligible for accreditation within each student’s academic program.

Study Abroad
Students may study one semester or an entire academic year covering tuition expenses required by the foreign university. Program directors may provide advice on the options of courses available in foreign universities that are eligible for accreditation within each student’s academic program.

Professional Practice
Working for one term with a foreign business or corporation abroad will gain the student credits for one or two courses in their academic program or for Professional Practice hours. This type of experience-based option will allow the student to develop a business oriented perspective in their academic field and in a foreign setting.

Foreign Language Term
Improve the language skills of your choice for one semester term in a foreign country and transfer foreign language credits for your academic program.

Specialization Term or Minor Area
Study for one semester from five to eight courses for your academic program. The credits awarded may vary depending on the academic load of each host university. The subject matter of the chosen courses must correspond to the same academic field. This may vary depending on specific foreign university policies. These courses will be accredited by elective courses in your program.

Specialization Certificate
This option is only available to students in International Academic Programs. It is designed in the same manner as the Specialization Term. At the end of the academic period, the foreign University will award a certificate in the specialization field the student has chosen. To be admitted, you must have a minimum 1300 score in the Admission Test and a 550 minimum score in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). As a graduation requirement, students must have taken a minimum of 33% of their academic course load in a language different than Spanish and scored a minimum of 600 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). All students must also comply with all foreign university requirements for admission and graduation.

Double Degree for International Undergraduate Programs
If you are a student in an International Academic Program you may have the opportunity to graduate with both a degree from Tecnológico de Monterrey as well as a degree from the foreign university where your academic exchange took place. To qualify, you must comply with a one to two year stay in this foreign institution, successfully undertaking between 12 and 16 courses. To be admitted, you must have a minimum 1300 score in the Admission Test and a 550 minimum score in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). As a graduation requirement, students must have taken a minimum of 33% of their academic course load in a language different than Spanish and scored a minimum of 600 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). All students must also comply with all foreign university requirements for graduation.

Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees for International Academic Programs
As in the case for Double degrees, this option is offered to students in an International Academic Program. You may be eligible for an undergraduate degree fromTecnológico de Monterrey as well as Masters degree from a foreign university after completing the appropriate course work. To be admitted, you must have a minimum 1300 score in the Admission Test and a 550 minimum score in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). As a graduation requirements, students must have taken a minimum of 33% of their academic course load in a language different than Spanish and scored a minimum of 600 in the TOEFL test. All students must also comply with all foreign university requirements for admission and graduation.
