Scott Munguía, Mauricio Valdés, Carolina Cavazos, Everardo Padilla, and Juan A. Osorio are Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus students, but they're also businesspeople. Together, they have built an academic project into what is today a company: Biofase.

Biofase is a group of five Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus students who pooled specialties -Chemical Engineering, Business Management, International Relations, and Computer Technologies- on a project titled "Generating Bio-plastic from Avocado Seed Extract" that on February 14 garnered a new honor: first prize of the FRISA Entrepreneurial Development Award.

The contest began in their Entrepreneurial Leadership Development course, where they along with 73 other teams showcased their projects at the Business Exhibition. They and seven other teams won a ticket to the Frisa Award.

As first place winners, they earned a scholarship to complete two summer courses overseas, as well as transportation and accommodations for four members of the team, a $50,000 dollar prize.

The evening's special honoree, Mr. Garza T., shared with the young entrepreneurs the importance of performing a job or developing a project with great passion and pleasure. "The importance of the Frisa Award lies in students seeing that their ideas and projects have possibilities and that an entrepreneur's true reward is seeing his/her project be successful."
