Orcius' main goal is to provide online and training services to Mexico’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), only 25% of which use internet only to search for information and not for doing business, ranking them among Latin America's least tech-savvy.

In addition, the inefficient use of available technologies widens the digital gap with large companies, eroding competitiveness. A current fact: just 10% of Mexican SMEs has a website.

For these reasons, Orcius Founder and CEO Javier Cárdenas decided to set up shop within the Puebla Campus' Tech Park and thus change the paradigm of technology as a synonym of imports.

And for all that the global IT dynamic has its hub in California's Silicon Valley, Orcius is striving to become a global internet service company for SMEs while based in Puebla.

Mr. Cárdenas states that with that end, he has recruited 20 experts who pursued their PhDs in countries like Australia, the United States, and Great Britain, allowing him to put together 100% Mexican intellectual capital.

Meanwhile, Tech Park Director Mr. Julián Torres reflects that Orcius' collaboration with the Puebla Campus is an example of how researchers' and students' knowledge can be capitalized.

The process, known as "Innovation Ecosystem" consists in generating a virtuous circle between academia and companies so that new knowledge "finds its way to markets in the shape of new products", the official explained.
